President's Message

Summer is here!

Friends and Neighbors of Old Town—spring is here and that’s a time for Old Town to shine! Everything is greening. Dogwoods and azaleas are in bloom everywhere. Cardinals chirp happy songs. Yellow pollen covers everything … well, nothing is perfect.

Thank you to Susan and Barry Ray for hosting the March meeting and swap party at their house. They have a lovely home and grounds. I’m excited about my swap, an original Harvey print T-shirt.

As we wade through these slower economic times, it becomes more important than ever to realize our goals for the year—to reconnect with our friends and neighbors of Old Town—and build a strong community that goes beyond the houses and streets. Some of our plans for the upcoming months include an Old Town garage sale, a “Cinco de Mayo” social (Friday, May 2), and the release of our Old Town Slideshow CD.Don’t forget to sign up for our Old Town Forum and look for our blog at www.Talllahassee.com. Another new item: We will begin a community help group that will keep a watch on vacant properties.

Please see the association Web site, www.OTNAT.com, for details, and e-mail info@otnat.com with any questions. Please place with the acronym “OTNAT” in the subject line. On a more personal note, Old Town sends its deepest sympathies to Ms. Lillian Cox on the recent passing of her daughter.
